Known for mastering the art of storytelling, Angle brings descriptive narrative and thoughtful metaphors to a collaborative of beats that have the best ingredients from every era of hip hop. Tuck yourself in! Originally, the Definitive Bedtime Stories (DBS) project was intended to bring Angle into collaboration with all of the favorable artists he has worked with in his career. He accomplished this goal by working with many of the notable names that appear throughout his catalogue of music. Regular collaborators, like Gadema (Des Moines) and Felix Thunder (Iowa City), appear on vocals. Aeon Grey (DM) and even Tack Fu (IC) provide offerings on the beat side. And, J8 (IC) is back, bringing his string-plucking additives on many of the tracks.
DBS brings in some newcomers to work with Angle, as we hear Psalm One (Chicago, Rhymesayers affiliate), C-Rayz Walz (The Bronx, from Def Jux label), Copywrite (Columbus, from The Weathermen), Iowa City's johndope and the talented CP (DM) adding vocals. Angle welcomes the beats of The Dust Collectors (Bryce Mowrey (San Francisco) & Aeon Grey) and some from his fresh Des Moines connections with Sean Vasey Productions, Samuel Jonathan Johnson Jr., Adept and Monkey Paw. All of these efforts combine to showcase Angle's skill for talking story, chopping it up on record and passing metaphors by the common listener until the light bulb flashes on the 10th listen. This album displays Angle's capability for expansion into new territory, while keeping his regular folks satisfied and proud.
